The man who sued Edwin Castro for stealing a $2 billion Powerball ticket is losing two lawyers

The man who claims to buy a $2 billion winning Powerball ticket lost two lawyers last week after Edwin Castro accused him of theft and money laundering.

Jose Rivera sought to sue Castro and his former landlord Urachi "Reggie" Romero for prize money, claiming that Romero stole his cash ticket and that Castro misrepresented it to the California State Lottery Commission

However, according to the US Sun , Rivera has not explained how the winning ticket came into Castro’s hands and two of his lawyers have already withdrawn from the case to represent him in the case.

On July 12, one of the attorneys hired by Rivera, R. Brian Kramer, filed paperwork to withdraw from the case while a week later, another of his attorneys, Estella Richeda, informed the high court that she also would not participate in the legal wrangling

Castro's lawyer told The Sun that the lawsuit was unfair, and that Rivera failed to link Romero to Castro.

“The dress has absolutely no basis in reality. We are currently only operating as a service but there are major problems with the complaint,” said attorney David Di Paoli.

“At some point, it becomes clear that Edwin G. Castro is the rightful owner of the ticket.” He added that Rivera “will not get a dollar”.

Powerball is where players can buy tickets for $2 per game.

According to USA Today , players can choose a number from one to 26 for the red Power Ball and five numbers from one to 69 for the white ball while also having the option of selecting random numbers

All five white ball numbers and the red Power Ball number must be entered to win the jackpot.

Rivera claims the Powerball lotto ticket was purchased by him and belongs to him
